The
‘Views from
the Edge’ Art Exhibition is an opportunity for artists to create and
sell a specific work; be considered for prizes; and give their work exposure to
those attending the festival. We provide a space to consider how life
experiences connect with issues related to Mental Health and the broad themes
of Luke’s gospel.
We
invite local artists to contribute artworks exploring issues like:
*Mental
Health * Sickness * Healing & Wholeness * Care &
Compassion * Alienation & Reconciliation
* Seeking & finding the Lost * Outsider * Rejection * Accepting those on the Margins * Disowned * Different * Forgiveness, Freedom & New Life * Hospitality
for all the above groups * New Opportunities to rejoin the community * Restoring value as
People * ‘The Edge’ * ‘The Edge’ as a place of healing * Normality of ‘The Edge’ * Observing
others at ‘The Edge’ *
As well as relating to Mental Health Week, these are themes from the
Gospel of Luke as seen in stories like “The Good Samaritan”; “The Prodigal
Son”; “Searching for the Lost”; “Zaccheus”; “Accepting and eating with
outsiders and those whom others rejected”;
and the healing of people with physical and mental illnesses. How these
themes are interpreted is entirely up to the artist. An overtly religious piece
is not required.
